The fairy-tale enchanted forest can suddenly change into an apocalyptic landscape filled with pain and decay, becoming a testimony to the omnipresent hopelessness. The characters and objects in Małgorzata Wielek-M’s painting seem to fight for survival, they reach further, giving up their basic materiality. Like in a voodoo rite, they look inside, rummage in their own insides, trying to find answers to nagging questions. Sometimes they degenerate at their own request. As they disintegrate, they only leave traces, symbols, and scraps to follow.
